Manly Kayak Centre has been on Sydney Harbour since 1990 and is proud to be able to provide the most diverse range of aquatic products and services in Sydney.

With 3 locations to rent a kayak, stand up paddle board or hire boat in Manly, we provide access to the best inner harbour beaches and waterways in Sydney Harbour.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality of fun, unique and consistently challenging fitness sessions and tours to all our customers who are looking to improve their health and vitality whilst outdoors enjoying Manly's pristine beaches and waterways.
  

Wharf Junior

Working as a staff member at our Manly Wharf location is the perfect position for someone who loves the water and being outdoors. At times, the wharf can be extremely busy with a lot going on, so applicants must be able to multitask and work efficiently while keeping a high level of customer service. Tasks include getting kayaks ready, giving thorough explanations of our area of operation, fitting life jackets, assisting customers to get on and off the water in addition to helping with various jobs on the wharf. This is a great opportunity for a first job and no previous experience is required.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Confident oral communication skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • Positive attitude, punctual and reliable
  • Be able to multitask and take direction
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Be able to complete assigned tasks without constant supervision

Boat Operator

Safety on the water is our number one priority and as the Boat Operator, you will fulfil one of the most integral positions at Manly Kayak Centre. You will be performing rescues on the water, transporting equipment in addition to constantly monitoring our area of operation. If you enjoy helping customers and spending time outdoors, on boats and on the beach, then this role is for you!

Skills and Competencies:
  • Full NSW boat licence (or valid equivalent) 
  • Boating experience with under 5m power boats
  • Knowledge of boating rules and regulations
  • Basic knowledge of rope knots
  • First aid certificate and proven ability to administer emergency first aid
  • Proven ability to respond to emergency situations
  • Be able to multi task and take direction
  • Positive attitude, punctual and reliable
  • Good customer service skills
  • Able to work in a team environment

Rental Assistant

In this role, you are the first to greet customers and assist them with their bookings so they can get out on the water efficiently. In addition to creating bookings in our online calendar and processing various types of payments, you will also be responsible for handing each group of customers over to another staff member who will then take care of getting them on the water. This is a fantastic job if you enjoy working outside in a fast-paced environment and interacting with customers.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Exceptional customer service and energetic personality
  • Ability to work efficiently and multitask

  • Be able to both give and take direction
  • Basic computer and POS experience

SUP Instructor

Working as a Stand Up Paddle Board Instructor at our Manly Wharf location is the perfect position for someone who loves teaching, interacting with customers from diverse backgrounds and being out on the water.  We are looking for a SUP instructor to join our pool of contracted staff. All lessons will be divided between the instructors that are available. Besides general lessons, there might be a possibility for the right candidate to be a part of our fast growing and incredibly fun SUPBALL league, games and training sessions.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Confident oral communication skills and customer service
  • Positive attitude, punctual and reliable
  • Be able to connect and communicate with people from all walks in life
  • Able to engage with all group sizes, from one-on-one lessons to large corporate bookings
  • Relevant SUP Instructor qualification preferred. This is not a requirement for the right candidate who is able to demonstrate the necessary skills on our equipment

Kayak Tour Guide

Being a Kayak Tour Guide for Manly Kayak Centre is the perfect position for someone who loves being out on the water and showing off the stunning of sights of North Harbour to people from all walks of life. Guiding people to new places in an ocean environment is an exciting and rewarding challenge!

We are looking for a Guide to join our pool of contracted instructors. All tours will be divided between the guides that are available.

As a Kayak Tour Guide, you are responsible for leading rewarding, safe, educational and fun trips for people of many backgrounds and experience levels. We expect guides to be strong leaders, knowledgeable in natural and cultural history, good teachers and communicators.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Confident oral communication skills and customer service
  • Positive attitude, punctual and reliable
  • Be able to connect and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Australian Canoeing Certification or an equivalent overseas teaching or guiding qualification
  • Tour guide experience is preferred but not required
